has initiated this new project to record information about all Southern Africans who immigrated to Israel prior to and after the founding of the State.
Purpose
To record, for posterity, the contributions of Southern African's to Israeli society in all fields of occupation and volunteer endeavor.
To revitalize, renew and strengthen the fabric of our community as a positive force within the broader Israeli society.
Data submitted will be recorded on this web site with a link to and from the Telfed site.
Qualifications for inclusion
All persons of Southern African origin, (ie. born in or naturalized as citizens of Southern Africa including the second generation) who are domiciled in Israel, or who were domiciled here for at least ten years, are urged to participate in this innovative prestigious project by clicking on the above link, so as to ensure as comprehensive a record as possible.
For this purpose Southern Africa comprises South Africa; Zimbabwe (Southern Rhodesia); Zambia (Northern Rhodesia); Namibia (South West Africa) Malawi (Nyasaland); Botswana (Bechuanaland); and the former Belgian Congo.
Children/relatives/friends of eligible persons who made aliya and are now deceased may submit a listing on behalf of the deceased.
If you submit a listing on behalf of a third party, please send a separate letter containing your contact details and authorization by the person to be listed.
Each listing relates to one individual only.
Organizations
In addition to personal listings, it is intended to list brief details of communal, commercial and industrial organizations in which Southern Africans have played a major role. If you wish to submit such a listing or if you wish to suggest the name of an organization that you believe should be listed, please do so by email, fax or regular mail to the addresses shown below.
